Nouvelle Aquitaine brand idea
One of our design proposals, not submitted, for the new Nouvelle Aquitaine brand. An arrow in the form of an A symbolising dynamism and direction. Blue for the waters of Aquitaine, bright green for nature and ecology, vibrant fluorescent pink for the future, new technologies and urbanism. A logotype, an icon and a pattern.

A Nouvelle mess!
Oh no...! this awful mess is what we are going to have to live with for the next few years. The new brand for the region Nouvelle Aquitaine has just been unveiled by Alain Rousset, President of the Region. Any idea what its meant to represent? a horse, a lion, a footprint?... suggestions welcome.
This disaster of a logo, that looks totally 1970's, with its badly illustrated thing and retro typography has been produced in house. The region was too mean to pay their local designers anything to design a brand worthy of the name. A sad day for Aquitaine and Aquitains.

Help Turkey campaign!
Erdogan's Stalinist style purge continues in Turkey: 125 000 dismissed from jobs and suspended, 40 000 arrested, 130 media services shut down, 15 universities closed, 14 000 students removed, an attempt to legalise child rape and now credible allegations of torture of prisoners. The biggest purge and human rights abuse in recent times.

The best design school in Paris gets a new logotype and branding
Phases 3 & 4 of the design development of the school logotype and branding. Work produced in partnership with the internal communications team.
Blue white and red Primaries logotypes
After Trump, its Fillon in France who is the surprise candidat at the French Primaries elections for the Presidency. What about the three main candidates logos and communications? Sarkozy's red t was very poor, proved by his being ejected from the finals. Fillon and Juppe try for some dynamism. Fillon's F is very 'Formula 1' style, normal he is involved in the Le Mans race circuit and lives nearby. I'm impatient to see the Socialist candidates logotypes...

'Made in' logotypes
Made in Britain and Made in France logotypes and visual communications. Very disappointing treatment of the Cock and MIF logo from the French team, here... not inspiring...

Trump design...! Just make it gold!
With only hours to go and with only 2 points between the candidates, what can we say about the Trump in design terms?
Oh my God, just look at his apartment... his tacky gold logos and the famously obscene Trump Pence penetration logo...!

The Optical Company - branding and identity design
The Optical Company - Fine Design Eyewear, branding and identity design. Our logotype strives for the essential: a pair of glasses and the OC monogram. A perfect reflection of the company philosophy.
The logotype existes in three weights, in the same way that optical frames come in different thicknesses for different faces and looks.

The most used colours on the internet. A fascinating study by Paul Hebert. And yes, no prizes for guessing the most popular colour: blue.

Grand Mess...!
As previously discussed on this blog, the new generation of regional brands are starting to be rolled out in France. This is another tragic example of the dumbing down of regional identities to the most mundane and characterless expression imaginable. Gone are the Alsace pretzel heart, the historic Lorraine symbolism and the interlocked hearts of Champagne & Ardenne... in comes a boring type logo on a faded blue holding shape - it looks more like a discount supermarket than the expression of a hugely rich historian cultural and economic region. It looks dated already. (Agency currently unknown). I am concerned about what our Nouvelle Aquitaine identity is going to look like... ps. We have not yet been consulted for the branding design assignment.
