The Optical Company - branding and identity design

The Optical Company - Fine Design Eyewear, branding and identity design. Our logotype strives for the essential: a pair of glasses and the OC monogram. A perfect reflection of the company philosophy.
The logotype existes in three weights, in the same way that optical frames come in different thicknesses for different faces and looks.

Most used colours on the internet
The most used colours on the internet. A fascinating study by Paul Hebert. And yes, no prizes for guessing the most popular colour: blue.

Grand Mess...!
As previously discussed on this blog, the new generation of regional brands are starting to be rolled out in France. This is another tragic example of the dumbing down of regional identities to the most mundane and characterless expression imaginable. Gone are the Alsace pretzel heart, the historic Lorraine symbolism and the interlocked hearts of Champagne & Ardenne... in comes a boring type logo on a faded blue holding shape - it looks more like a discount supermarket than the expression of a hugely rich historian cultural and economic region. It looks dated already. (Agency currently unknown). I am concerned about what our Nouvelle Aquitaine identity is going to look like... ps. We have not yet been consulted for the branding design assignment.

Great Britain in Europe logotype and flag
Despite the disastrous decision of the UK to turn its back on Europe & the world, we belong in Europe. Great Britain in Europe was voted massively by the young (64% of 18-24 year old's, 45% of 25-49 year old's), Londoners & Scotland etc. 58% of the over 65 year olds, the retired and non-active voted out. Its hardly the future...
