Now extremely rare, I just saw this excellent Caniveau sign. More of a portrait than a symbol, with a characterful eye and black nose.

Free Pussy Riot poster
The Pussy Riot two year prison sentences are described as a 'travesty of justice and democracy' by Liberation, 'over the top' Washington Post, 'a huge moral and political defeat suffered by the Russian authorities and society alike' Russian Newspaper.
'Vladimir Putin is a famously tough guy - a former KGB agent who gets photographed shirtless on horseback. But the Russian strongman is not really so strong. Evidently he's scared to death of three women who play in a punk rock band with the unforgettable name of Pussy Riot... Only corrupt dictatorial leaders have grounds to fear the complaints of their citizens... afraid of people armed with nothing but guitars and truth' Chicago Tribune.

Olympics symbol at Opening Ceremony London 2012
Brilliant interpretation of the Olympics Rings symbol during the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics last night. The rings were cast in 'molten metal' then levitated into the sky above the stadium where they came together to create the symbol. Wow! Photo JC Hong Assoc Press

M C Escher inspired 3D typeface design
This excellent 3D optical illusion typeface was created by Alice V in my typographic design course.
Starting with a principal of 3D construction, every letter is built in volume creating an intriguing Escher like illusion. The sketches are worth studying.
